A base coat of stucco was applied directly to the Faswall block. Primary ingredients are cement and sand. It is applied by hand and rodded or scraped to make the wall flat and to cover my mistakes.
A thin white cement and sand finishes the process of stucco. We have cement board under the overhangs with stucco applied to minimize fire danger. The facia of the outside rafters are covered in a painted cement board for the same reason.
We scrapped off pitch beads and sanded the beams and rafters. Next we have applied a solution of zinc bromide to the exposed wood to retard fire. After drying, we applied a linseed oil, tung oil and UV inhibetor. Gutters are on order.
